SW Hire - Monthly Summary: April

The monthly round-up at SW-Hire.

April started to pick up, with increased dry spells and (slightly) longer periods without rain. Large horsepower tractors have been in demand, with two 8R 370’s on one farm for potato planting. Our Marketing Coordinator, Mae, snapped a few shots of a 6R 185 which went out with a local contractor for ploughing.

Muckspreaders been in a continuous flow in & out of the yard. With the dry periods being tighter this year, the workshop has worked hard to get spreaders turned back around for the next hire.

Throughout April, we’ve added a more ex-hire machines to our sale page. Recently listed:

  • JCB 4220 Fastracs – TC104 (2,245 hours) & TC105 (1,657 hours)
  • 2022 18t silage trailer with hydraulic suspension - T283
  • 2021 20t silage trailer – T258
  • 2021 PA6565T with motion controls - H24
  • 2022 PA6565T with evolution controls - H25

As the season starts to become busier, we’ve had deliveries of new machines to keep up with demand. A brand new 2,600 gallon Major tanker was delivered and headed straight out on hire! Telehandlers which joined the fleet in April:

  • JCB 532.70
  • JCB 542.70
  • JCB 536.95
  • Kramer 407

Alongside new telehandlers, we also acquired new people carrier trailers, which are looking like they have a busy year coming up. The trailers were arrived in the yard, PDI checked and delivered to Kaleb Coopers, to help with the Amazon premier of Clarkson’s Farm.

In addition, we’ve expanded our gator fleet, going electric. The brand new John Deere TE electric Gator had it’s first outing to the Wiltshire YFC Rally. This electric model is a great alternative for enclosed spaces, where emissions need to be low or even zero. Complete with turf tyres and a tipping cargo box, the Gator remains functional. View more information on the electric gator here.

Lastly, we concluded the month by supporting the Wiltshire Young Farmers Clubs at their 2024 Rally. The brand new show trailer had it’s first outing and pulled the stand together. Also, on the stand was:

  • 6215R & 18t Richard Western Silage Trailer
  • John Deere TE Electric Gator
  • JCB 4220 iCON Fastrac
  • JCB 419s Loading Shovel

Responding to your feedback and demand from last year, we’ve brought back the pink sunglasses. Limited stock is available at the shows through the year or grab a pair when collecting machinery from the office (the SW blue colour is still available).
