Monthly Summary: March

The monthly round-up at SW-Hire.
March remained consistent with January and February…rain and wet grounds. A few farmers managed to get out with muckspreaders, with both the rear and side discharge spreaders heading out to local farms. Our spreaders are all serviced and ready to go for when the ground does eventually dry up. To book in muck spreader hire, or for more information, visit the webpage here, or call the office on 01249 730927.
Mid-way through the month, we hosted a visit for our local Young Farmers Club. We welcomed the Chippenham YFC to our yard for a tour and hot-dogs. Although the evening turned dark rather quickly, the workshop team had made a great display at the front of the workshop. Displayed was a range of tractors, telehandlers (including side-boom and TM models), hedgecutter, gators and tracked dumper out the front. In addition to the external display, there was also a ‘working display’ of current workshop projects, including a sold Richard Western trailer, JCB 4220 iCON Fastrac and a JCB 419s Loading Shovel.
The evening was preceded by a presentation from Managing Director Simon Williams, talking through the history of the business, starting from one muck spreader to now, with a fleet of over 400 machines. We hope they all had a great time and gained a deeper insight into SW Hire, and look forward to supporting them at the Wiltshire YFC Rally in a few weeks’ time.
On the following weekends, we had a machinery display at Wiltshire College and University Lackham Campus, supporting their lambing weekends. On display was:
This month we’ve seen new machines arrive! A brand new 15 tonne Bunning Rear Discharge Muckspreader was collected straight from the factory, supplied by Halse South West.
The Gator fleet has seen an expansion in models. We collected three brand new HPX815E John Deere Gators. Similar to the XUV865M Gators, the HPX815E Gators have 4x4 drive with a cargo box capacity of 454kg. The model is better suited to construction sites and events, with a door-less cab for easy access, 2x bucket seats, operator protection system and cup holders. Both models of Gator are road-safe and four-wheel drive, suitable for all-terrain work. For more information on Gators, find the page here.
