October 2026 Round-Up: New Machinery, New Office and Team Updates

October has been another busy month at SW Hire, with plenty happening both in and out of the yard.

From moving into our new office to welcoming a JCB Teletruk to our machinery hire fleet, there's been plenty to catch up on. We've also been back at The Dairy Show, introduced more of the team and started preparing our latest selection of used agricultural machinery for sale.

A new home for the office team

After months of building work, we've officially moved into our new office!

Built as an extension of our existing workshop, the new space sits on the site of our former wash bay, which was replaced with a purpose-built double-bay facility last year.

The additional office space gives our growing team more room to work and marks another milestone in the development of our Wiltshire depot.

There’s still a few finishing touches to complete, but it’s been quite a transformation from where we started.

SW Hire returns to The Dairy Show 2026

At the beginning of October, we headed back to the Bath & West Showground for The Dairy Show.

The annual agricultural event is a good opportunity to catch up with existing customers, meet new faces and discuss machinery requirements for the months ahead.

With a mix of farmers, contractors and industry suppliers attending, it was a useful day away from the office and a chance to talk through both short and long-term hire options.

Thanks to everyone who came over for a chat throughout the day.

A new addition to the fleet: JCB Teletruk

October also saw a new arrival, with the addition of a JCB Teletruk.

Unlike a conventional forklift, the Teletruk features a telescopic boom, providing additional reach and flexibility when handling materials.

Its compact design makes it particularly useful for loading and unloading in areas where space is limited.

Following its handover from G & J Peck Ltd, the Teletruk headed straight out on long-term hire.

Ten years on: Alfie's silage trailer throwback

A photo from ten years ago recently resurfaced, showing one of our older SW-Hire silage trailers working on a farm where Alfie, now one of our Agricultural Fitters, previously worked.

Although he wasn't driving on this occasion, Alfie spent plenty of time working with our agricultural machinery on the farm before joining the SW Hire team.

Having used our trailers first-hand, he now brings that practical experience into the workshop, with an understanding of how the machines are used and what matters to customers using our machines today.

Meet the Team: Part Two

Earlier this year, we started introducing some of the people behind SW-Hire.

With a couple of new additions to our growing team, October seemed a good time to share part two.

From the workshop and yard to the office and haulage, there's a lot that goes into keeping over 500 machines moving around the country.

Our latest Meet the Team feature puts a few more faces to the names, giving customers a chance to get to know the people they might speak to on the phone or see around the yard.
