SW-Hire's September: Autumn focus

Though harvest 2026 was wrapped up near the start of September, there’s been no shortage of work for the fleet.
Maize harvest has kept tractors and trailer moving across the country, while the bigger horsepower tractors have moved on to cultivations.
Away from the field, we’ve been supporting some local events. Take a read below to see the unusual work our telehandlers have been doing.

Dancing Diggers x SW-Hire

It wasn’t all field work this month.

Two of our 542-70 AgriPro telehandlers headed over to Newbury Show to join the JCB Dancing Digger Display Team, taking part in their displays throughout the weekend.
Their skilled operators had our machines driving circles around the others (literally) and weighted forward onto two wheels.

They weren’t the only SW-Hire machines at the showground wither. A brand new 532-60 telehandler was displayed on the Haynes stand, while one of our 532-70 telehandlers -already out with a customer on harvest hire – also made an appearance at the show.

The same weekend, we were closer to home supporting the Avebury Ploughing Match.

Autumn Cultivations

Now that combines are out of the field, attention has turned to cultivations and muckspreading.

Our larger horsepower tractors have been moving onto Autumn cultivations, including this John Deere 8R410, which is currently out on hire in Cambridgeshire.
Sitting at the top end of our tractor fleet, the 8R410 is well suited to demanding cultivation work. Not every job needs this much power. That’s why our fleet covers a wide range of sizes, available for both short and long-term hire.

Sale machine preparations

The end of harvest means we’re starting to welcome some machines back to the yard.
As our ‘older’ 2024 machines finish their hires, we’re beginning to prepare this year’s selection of ex-hire machinery for sale.
We’ve made a start, and more tractors, telehandlers and other machines/trailers will be added over the coming weeks. If you’re looking to add to your fleet, keep an eye on our emails and Machine Sales page for the latest listings.

Hedgecutting availability

The initial September rush for hedgecutters has now eased up, giving us more flexibility with hire dates over the next few months.
While ground conditions remain suitable, out McConnel PA6567T hedgecutters are available for short or longer-term requirements, either individually or alongside a suitable tractor.

Still busy with maize?

Although we covered maize harvest in our August Round-Up, trailers are still out supporting customers across the country.
