Monthly Summary: September 2024

After a swift change from grain to maize, the harvest continues.
With a wet start to the year and continuous rain throughout the summer months, grain harvest has dragged on for many customers. It has resulted in a tight turnaround for our trailers between completing grain harvests, to being converted back into silage trailers for maize.
Hedge cutting season began on 1st September; the hedgecutters were fully booked and out on hire at the start of the month. The workshop has been quick to turn machines around, sending them back out to farms across the country. The open season for hedgecutters runs to the 28th February 2025. If you haven’t managed to get around to your hedge maintenance yet, there is still plenty of time and upcoming availability for hedgecutters.
Tractor hire has remained busy throughout September, with the big horsepower tractors out drilling for next year’s crops. This 7R 310 was photographed and sent in by a customer in Berkshire, using GPS also hired from us.
Both rear and side discharge muck spreaders have been in high demand for post-harvest muck applications. With a fleet of 12 and 15 tonne rear discharge and 2,400 gallon side discharge spreaders, we have been booking them in for customers and farms of all sizes. If you need a spreader for your muck, or an additional machine to cope with workload in between dry periods, contact us here or call the office on 01249 730927.
RJ & KD McLean held a Takeuchi Dig Day on 21st September. We sent a 3t and 9t excavator and 6t tracked dumper down to their site in Shaftesbury to assist. The open day was a great opportunity to test drive the range of machines – allowing customers to experience first-hand the range of Takeuchi machines.
