July Round-Up: The busy season.

After starting harvest early in June, our team have had a mammoth effort getting all of our machines out to customers before we start thinking about building trailers back up for maize harvest.

Kubota Tractor Hire

At the beginning of July, we introduced our new, expanded tractor range; the addition of a Kubota M7-154.

The 150hp tractor is a new alternative to our John Deere fleet, providing 50kph with air brakes, LED work lights and air conditioning.

Having already completed it’s first hire; the Kubota is proving to be a great option for construction sites in particular.

Supporting Heddington & Stockley Steam Rally

Celebrating their 50th anniversary this year, Heddington & Stockley Steam Rally returned.

On-site to assist with the running of their show, were a selection of SW-Hire machines.

A JCB 542-70 AgriXtra telehandler was stationed over with the tractor pulling team for loading on weights to the sledge, in addition to setting up and packing down the area.

A tractor and tanker unit were on hand to help with extra dust suppression on the lawn mower racing circuit and the main gate entrance. Keeping dust to a minimum in compliance with health and safety regulations and making the visitor experience a little more pleasurable.

And finally, as part of the exhibits, our John Deere 8R410 tractor was on display besides the main ring.

We’re glad to have been a supporting hand with the return of the show after a 3 year break, for a momentous milestone in the event’s history.

Harvest 2026

The main event of July. Harvest.

In full swing through July, harvest was underway with all of our harvest customers.

Towards the end of the month, Mae and Jonny headed across to the Eastern Counties to catch up with a couple of our customers and see how their harvest was progressing.

Yard BBQ

To celebrate the final harvest machine leaving the yard and thank the team for their hard work in the lead-up to harvest, Simon hosted a BBQ for staff and their families.

It was a fitting way to mark the start of a hot, busy season and show our appreciation to everyone in the company.

Community Project

We rounded up September by getting involved with the building of a long jump pit.

Simon and Jack headed over to Heywood School in Corsham, lending a helping hand (and a couple of machines) with the construction of their new long jump sand pit.

A 2.5 tonne Takeuchi Excavator was expertly operated by Simon, to dig up and lay in place the foundations of the pit. Followed by a telehandler and tipping trailer to lay in the sand.

We hope the students enjoy putting it to good use.

Planning ahead: Hedgecutting season

As harvest beings to wind to a close, and some farms look on to maize, the next task on the farm calendar is rapidly approaching.

The ban on hedge cutting lifts on September 1st, enabling farmers, highways and estates to commence hedge and verge maintenance.

If you’re considering hiring in a hedgecutter, over purchasing, take a look at the benefits of seasonal hire here.
